Our collaborative approach to care allows us to provide services that are catered to your child and family’s individual needs.

At Positive Solutions, Inc., we have services that are designed to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities reach their fullest potential. We provide a family-centered approach to care to ensure that the individuals and families we serve are well taken are of.

We provide the following services:

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a well-developed scientific discipline that focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation of social and other environmental modifications to produce meaningful changes in human behavior. ABA focuses on the functional analysis of the relations between the environment and behavior.

ABA is the standard of care for the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder because ABA focuses on treating the problems of the disorder by altering the individual’s social and learning environment.

Skills that can be addressed in ABA therapy include, but is not limited to:

  • Communication skills
  • Social skills
  • Play skills
  • Daily living skills
  • Academic skills
Speech Therapy

Speech and language therapy is individualized to meet the communication needs of each child. A comprehensive assessment determines areas of need. Therapy may focus on all or some of the following areas of communication: receptive language, expressive language, vocabulary, articulation, social communication, fluency, voice, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Speech and language therapy is beneficial to increase functional communication in daily interactions and social activities.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps individuals participate in the things they want and need to do by strengthening the connection between the brain and muscles to improve motor skills, motor planning, coordination, and more. Some common skills our occupational therapists can assist in include: daily living, gross motor, fine motor, and sensory related activities.

Early Intervention

The purpose of our Early Intervention Program is to help infants and toddlers with developmental delays reach their full potential by offering individualized services by qualified, caring, and collaborative specialists. Our Early Intervention Program utilizes a multi-disciplinary model which focuses on supporting the child in reaching his or her highest potential across important developmental domains. By creating a nurturing and collaborative environment, we foster the child’s capacity to explore and learn through play, while giving the family necessary tools to be active stakeholders in their child’s overall development.

We strive to assist children in meeting developmental milestones in the following areas:

  • Physical (e.g. reaching, rolling, crawling, walking, etc.)
  • Cognitive (e.g. learning, problem solving, etc.)
  • Communication (e.g. talking, listening, understanding, etc.)
  • Social/Emotional (e.g. playing, coping skills, etc.)
  • Self-Help (e.g. eating, dressing, etc.)

Social Skill Group

Our social skills group teaches children social conventions that dictate how to engage and interact with others. We pair groups of children with similar skills sets and provide them with opportunities to develop necessary social skills such as making friends, asking for help, taking turns, holding a conversation, and engaging in appropriate behaviors. Social skills group classes are held at our San Jose Clinic and in the community.

Educational Support

As a Non-Public Agency through the California Department of Education, we can provide behavior services necessary for a student with exceptional needs to benefit educationally from the students individualized education plan (IEP). Our behavior services include: behavior intervention, functional behavior assessments, behavior support plans, and consultation.

Parent Training

Research shows that parental involvement is an integral part of the success of early intervention programs for children with autism. Since children spend most of their time with their parents, it is beneficial for parents to be able to apply evidenced-based interventions. We provide workshops and 1:1 parent training meetings to provide parents the tools necessary to aid their child’s development.
